It was held from 3rd to 11th of March in Thimphu, Bhutan. The training was supported by the Norwegian-funded project titled “Bhutan Parliamentary Support”.

During this fall of 2014, the Parliamentary Centre and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) will partner once again in supporting Bhutan’s democratic development. The two organisations will implement a project that will offer training on the legislative process and legislative drafting. In addition, two staff from the Bhutanese Parliament will have the opportunity to participate in a fellowship exchange with another legislature. The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.
New Project to Strengthen Accountability in Zambia

The three-year project, which will be launched in September 2014, will help strengthen the capacity of the National Assembly of Zambia to perform its roles in formulating and approving the budget, as well as overseeing its implementation by the government. This will include support to ongoing national efforts to establish and strengthen a Parliamentary Budget Office and to support specific parliamentary committees in the execution of their oversight functions.

The Parliamentary Centre with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) facilitated a knowledge exchange visit by a 14-member Canadian parliamentary delegation to Burma from February 15 until February 22, 2013. This delegation, headed by Parliamentary Secretary Deepak Obhrai, was composed of Members of Parliament, veteran Conservative, NDP and Liberal political strategists, representatives of the staff of the House of Commons and the Senate, a member from the Auditor General’s Office, as well as members of the Parliamentary Centre.
